Alice Huang and Megaspeed: The Singapore Nvidia Customer at the Centre of the Chip and Spy Reports

Before anyone had heard of Alice Huang, her company Megaspeed was already one of the most scrutinised buyers of Nvidia chips in Asia. The Singapore data center firm bought billions of dollars of Nvidia hardware and rents out computing power, including reportedly to Alibaba, while US and Singapore authorities examined whether chips reached China. On November 7, 2026 it became part of a bigger story. Here is what Megaspeed is, what investigators looked at and how Alice Huang fits in.

Quick answers (updated November 7, 2026)

What is Megaspeed? A Singapore-based data center and cloud company, formerly 7Road International, a Chinese gaming company. Bloomberg called it Nvidia’s biggest chip buyer in Southeast Asia.

Who is Alice Huang at Megaspeed? Reports list Alice Huang (Huang Le) as Megaspeed’s managing director.

What was it investigated for? In October 2025 CNBC reported that Singapore and the US were examining Megaspeed over possible export-control violations, after US officials reportedly found Nvidia gear still boxed at a Malaysian site.

Did Nvidia find wrongdoing? Nvidia says it visited Megaspeed’s facilities repeatedly, saw permitted cloud services and found no evidence of diversion.

Charges? None reported against Megaspeed or Alice Huang. The November 2026 spy claims are unproven and denied.

What Is Megaspeed?

Megaspeed is a Singapore-based company that builds and operates data centers and rents out GPU computing power. Tom’s Hardware reports it was formerly 7Road International, a Chinese online-game company with ties to the Chinese state, before it moved into AI infrastructure. It became an Nvidia cloud partner and, in Bloomberg’s words, Nvidia’s biggest chip buyer in Southeast Asia.

Investigators and reporters say Megaspeed rents computing capacity in Southeast Asian data centers to Chinese firms including Alibaba. Renting compute located outside China to Chinese companies can be legal under US rules, depending on the chips and the set-up, which is exactly why the case is contested.

The Megaspeed Nvidia Chip Investigations

In October 2025 CNBC reported that Singapore and US authorities were investigating Megaspeed over possible violations of US export controls. Bloomberg reported in December 2025 that the US probe began after Commerce Department officials visited a Malaysian data center and found Nvidia equipment still packed in boxes, and that investigators were looking at Megaspeed’s ownership structure and whether chips were smuggled to China.

Reports disagree on scale. One links about $4.6 billion of hardware purchases to Megaspeed International; others describe accusations involving about $2 billion of Nvidia chips. Singapore separately charged people in an earlier, related case over servers declared for Malaysia that may have been diverted.

Nvidia’s position: it says it repeatedly visited Megaspeed’s facilities, saw cloud services permitted under export rules, and found no evidence of diversion. No charges against Megaspeed have been reported.

Alice Huang at Megaspeed and the November 2026 Reports

On November 6 and 7, 2026, the New York Times and Financial Times reported that US officials believe Alice Huang, listed as Megaspeed’s managing director, was recruited by China’s Ministry of State Security to gather information on Nvidia and its CEO. These are allegations from anonymous officials and a reported intelligence memo. They have not been proven, no one has been charged in connection with them, Nvidia says the meetings were routine customer contact and that no sensitive information was shared, and China denies the claims.

The reports link two threads that had been separate: the export-control probes into Megaspeed’s chip purchases, and the personal access its executive had to Jensen Huang as a large customer. Full details are on our pages about what the reports allege about Alice Huang and Nvidia and Jensen Huang and the congressional briefing request.

What the Megaspeed Case Means for GPU Buyers

The Megaspeed story is already changing how Nvidia sells in the region. Reports say Nvidia has tightened tracking of its AI GPUs in Southeast Asia, requiring cloud providers to join a monitoring program to keep official partner status. Expect more audits, more paperwork and slower approvals for resellers there.

For builders in Canada and the US, tighter Asian channels can mean more supply aimed at North American projects, but the hard limit is still power, permits and cooling. See how grid limits shape big compute sites in BC, then price your own site below.
