Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Strategic Crypto Reserve collects when you read this website, license the AI Build Configurator, buy a membership or collectible, join our community, or speak with one of our sales representatives. It also explains why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to exercise your privacy rights.

Questions or requests go to support@strategiccryptoreserve.ca.

1. Who we are

Strategic Crypto Reserve ("SCR", "we", "us") is a Canadian blockchain media and digital collectibles business based in the Comox Valley, British Columbia. We operate strategiccryptoreserve.ca, publish free educational content, license the AI Build Configurator data centre cost software, offer premium memberships, limited-edition collectible drops and paid community access, and provide crypto data centre services.

SCR is the organization responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our privacy contact is accountable for our compliance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies, and the other laws referred to below. You can reach them through the details in section 16.

This policy covers this website, the hosted AI Build Configurator script, our licence, membership and collectible sales, our community channels as they relate to SCR, and our sales and support conversations. It does not cover third-party websites and platforms we link to, which have their own policies.

3. Information we collect

Information collected automatically

When you visit this website, or when a licensee's website loads the hosted AI Build Configurator script, our web server records standard request data: your IP address, the page or file requested, the referring page, your browser and device type (user agent), and the date and time. This is how web servers work, and we use this data to deliver pages, keep the service secure, validate licences and understand aggregate usage.

Some pages load fonts, icons and images from third-party servers, including Google Fonts, the cdnjs content network operated by Cloudflare, OpenSea image storage, and the directory sites whose badges appear in our footers. When your browser fetches those files, the provider receives your IP address and browser details under its own privacy policy.

Information from our sales representatives

SCR works with independent call centres, agencies and individual representatives who introduce the AI Build Configurator to businesses. When a representative contacts you, they record business contact information, the organization you work for, notes from the conversation, and whether you asked to be contacted again or not at all. They pass this to us as a hand-off record so we can follow up when you contact us. Representatives do not take payment and cannot close a sale; every licence is arranged directly with SCR.

Information from other sources

  • Stripe tells us whether a payment succeeded, the amount, the last four digits and brand of the card, and the billing details you entered.
  • Affiliate programs report sales or sign-ups credited to our links, usually as aggregate commission data without your name.
  • Public sources, such as a company's own website or business listings, may be used by our representatives to identify the right business contact.
  • Public blockchains show the wallet address and transactions associated with a purchase, mint or transfer of an SCR collectible or token.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

SCR does not currently set advertising or analytics cookies on this website. Cookies and similar technologies may still be used by third parties you interact with through our site:

  • Stripe uses cookies and device information on its checkout pages to process payments and prevent fraud.
  • Affiliate partners may set a cookie when you click an affiliate link, so that a later purchase on their site is credited to us.
  • Embedded or linked platforms such as OpenSea, Discord and X apply their own cookies once you visit them.

The AI Build Configurator runs its calculations in your browser and does not use cookies to track visitors. Where a page stores a preference in your browser, that data stays on your device. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If we add analytics or any tracking technology in the future, we will update this policy before doing so.

Some browsers send a Global Privacy Control signal. Because we don't sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, there is nothing further for that signal to switch off, but we treat it as a valid opt-out request if that changes.

5. How we use information

We use personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would expect, which are:

  • Delivering the website, the hosted widget and the products and access you pay for.
  • Issuing, validating and renewing software licences, and enforcing licence terms.
  • Responding to enquiries, preparing quotes and providing support.
  • Processing payments, sending invoices and renewal notices, and keeping accounting and tax records.
  • Granting and managing membership benefits and community roles, including applying optional $SCR access or discount benefits you choose to use.
  • Paying creators, collaborators and affiliates, and reconciling affiliate commissions.
  • Following up with businesses introduced by our sales representatives, and honouring do-not-contact requests.
  • Sending product and service updates, where you have consented or the law otherwise permits.
  • Protecting the site, our customers and SCR against fraud, abuse and security threats.
  • Complying with legal obligations and establishing or defending legal claims.

We collect information with your consent, which may be express (for example, ticking a box or asking us to email you) or implied from the circumstances (for example, providing your email when you ask for a quote). You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits, and we will explain what that means for the service you receive.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in running and securing our business, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it.

6. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as described here:

  • Service providers who work on our behalf: our web hosting provider, email provider, Stripe for payments, and accounting or tax software. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
  • Sales representatives and call centres engaged by SCR, limited to the business contact information and notes needed to introduce our software and record your contact preferences.
  • Community and marketplace platforms such as Discord and OpenSea, when you use them to access SCR memberships or collectibles.
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, under a duty of confidentiality.
  • Authorities, when we are required by law, a court order or a lawful request, or to protect the rights, safety or property of SCR or others.
  • A buyer or successor, if all or part of SCR's business is sold or transferred, under an agreement to protect the information as this policy describes.

Sponsored projects and creator collaborators do not receive our members' or customers' personal information unless you give it to them yourself, for example by entering their giveaway or visiting their site.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined in California law. We have not done so in the past 12 months.

7. Where information is processed

SCR is based in British Columbia, Canada, and much of our processing happens in Canada. Some of our service providers, including Stripe, process information in the United States and other countries. Some sales representatives work outside Canada. When information is processed in another country, it is subject to that country's laws and may be accessible to its courts and authorities. We use contractual and other measures to require a comparable level of protection. If you are visiting from outside Canada, your request data is processed in Canada.

8. How long we keep it

InformationHow long
Web server request logsFor the period set by our hosting provider, and longer only when needed to investigate a security incident.
General enquiries and quotes that don't lead to a purchaseUp to 24 months after our last contact.
Sales representative hand-off recordsUp to 24 months, except do-not-contact requests, which we keep so we can honour them.
Licence, membership and purchase records, invoices and tax recordsFor the life of the licence or membership, then at least six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
Creator, collaborator and affiliate payment recordsSix years after the end of the tax year of the last payment.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. If personal information was used to make a decision about you, we keep it for at least one year after that decision so you have a chance to request access, as PIPA requires.

9. Security

We protect personal information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity. The site is served over HTTPS, card payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified processor, access to our records is limited to people who need it, and our accounts use strong authentication. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and report it to the appropriate privacy regulator as required by law, and we will keep a record of every such breach.

10. Your rights

Everyone

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Email support@strategiccryptoreserve.ca with the subject line "Privacy request" and tell us what you'd like us to do. We'll respond within 30 days, and tell you if we need an extension and why. Requests are free unless they are clearly excessive, in which case we'll tell you the cost first.

We'll ask for enough information to confirm your identity before releasing or changing anything, usually by replying from the email address we already have for you. We may decline a request where the law allows, for example when records must be kept for tax purposes, and we'll explain why.

Canada

Under PIPA and PIPEDA, you have the right to access and correct your personal information, to know how it has been used and disclosed, and to withdraw consent. If you aren't satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

United States

Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws, including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and others, may have the right to:

  • Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
  • Access and receive a portable copy of their personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for targeted advertising, and profiling. We don't do any of these.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We don't use sensitive information beyond what is needed to provide our services.
  • Not be treated differently for exercising these rights.

We extend these rights to all US residents, whether or not a particular state's law applies to SCR. You can use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof of the agent's authority and may still verify your identity directly. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line. We will respond to appeals within the time your state's law requires, and if you're still not satisfied you can contact your state attorney general.

In the past 12 months, the categories of personal information we have collected are identifiers (such as name, email, phone and IP address), commercial information (purchase and licence records), internet activity (web server request data), professional information (employer and job role for business contacts), and payment-related information handled by Stripe. We collect it from the sources and for the purposes in sections 3 and 5, and disclose it for business purposes only to the recipients in section 6.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

11. Marketing, calls and emails

We send commercial electronic messages only with your consent or where Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation otherwise permits, and every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe. Service messages about your licence, membership or purchase, such as receipts and renewal notices, are not marketing and will still be sent.

Our sales representatives are required to follow the telemarketing rules that apply to the call, including the Canadian National Do Not Call List rules and US federal and state do-not-call and calling-hour rules. If you tell a representative, or tell us, that you don't want to be called again, we add you to our internal do-not-contact list and pass that on to every representative working for us.

12. Blockchain and wallets

SCR collectibles and the optional $SCR access token live on public blockchains such as Polygon. When you buy, mint, hold or transfer them, your wallet address and the transaction are recorded on a public ledger that anyone can view and that SCR cannot change or delete. A wallet address may become personal information if it can be linked to you, for example when you give it to us to receive membership access.

We use wallet addresses you give us only to deliver the access, discounts or collectibles you requested. We will never ask for your private key or seed phrase, and anyone who does is not acting for SCR. Wallet software such as MetaMask is provided by third parties under their own policies. $SCR is an optional access and discount mechanism, not an investment, and nothing in this policy suggests otherwise.

13. AI Build Configurator licensees

The AI Build Configurator performs all inputs and calculations in the visitor's browser. SCR's server receives only the standard request data described in section 3 when a licensee's page loads the hosted script. If SCR adds server-side licence verification, the licence key and the hostname of the embedding page will also be sent to SCR on page load. We will not add collection of visitors' personal information through the widget without first notifying licensees.

Any form, lead-capture tool or endpoint a licensee connects to the widget collects information on the licensee's own systems. The licensee is responsible for that information and for publishing its own privacy notice. Full terms are in the Licence Terms and Annual Usage Agreement. If this policy and those terms differ on how SCR handles licensee data, the licence terms apply to the licensee.

14. Children

Our products, memberships and collectibles are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a young person has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change, for example when new membership features or analytics are introduced. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change significantly affects how we use information we already hold, we will notify affected customers by email before it takes effect.
