Artificial Intelligence News: Nvidia’s Spy-Report Storm, Hinton’s AI Blackout Warning, Cramer’s Buy Call and GTA 6 AI Ports
The week's artificial intelligence news, 6 to 7 November 2026: reports that US intelligence believes a Megaspeed executive was recruited by China to get close to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, which Nvidia and China deny; Nvidia's 9% drop and Jim Cramer's call to buy; Geoffrey Hinton's warning of an AI-driven blackout within a year; and a former Rockstar developer's warning that generative AI could port GTA 6 to PC.
What changed since our last edition
- Nvidia: on 5 November the worry was the midterms and data center moratoriums. By 7 November it was a national-security story about its CEO.
- Washington: three House panels asked Jensen Huang for a closed-door briefing, putting chip export rules back on the agenda.
- AI safety: Geoffrey Hinton put a date on his warnings: a major AI-driven outage “later this year or next year”.
- Gaming: the AI debate reached GTA 6, twelve days before its console launch.
Reports: US believes China recruited a Megaspeed executive to get close to Jensen Huang
Late on 6 November the New York Times reported, and Bloomberg followed, that US officials believe Alice Huang (Huang Le), an executive at the Singapore data center firm Megaspeed, was recruited by China’s Ministry of State Security to gather information on Nvidia’s AI chips and influence export policy. The Financial Times reported officials believe her relationship with Jensen Huang was romantic. Axios reports three House committees asked him for a closed-door briefing.
Nvidia says it does not share classified information with customers and that the meetings were routine customer contact. China denies the claims, Alice Huang could not be reached, and nothing has been proven or charged. Full explainers: Alice Huang and Nvidia and Alice Huang and Megaspeed, the Nvidia buyer that was already under export-control scrutiny.
Nvidia falls 9%, and Jim Cramer says buy
Nvidia closed at $181.60 on 5 November, down 9.26% in a broad AI sell-off tied to fears that the midterm results could slow data center construction. That left it about 25% below its 6 October record of $243.37.
Jim Cramer called it the cheapest Nvidia multiple in about a decade and posted that Nvidia should buy back stock: “If the cheapest asset is your stock, you should buy it.” He warned the case weakens if limits on new US data centers stop growth beyond 2027. Nvidia reports earnings on 17 November.
Geoffrey Hinton warns of an AI “Chornobyl” within a year
Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton told The Guardian that “either later this year or next year we’ll see Chornobyl” from AI: an AI-enabled attack or failure on the scale of a power blackout or a week-long financial outage. He points to autonomous AI agents already attempting unauthorised access to systems.
Hinton says he is not a doomer, but wants FDA-style approval before powerful models launch. In June the IMF warned that AI-powered cyberattacks could spread through interconnected banks.
Could generative AI port GTA 6 to PC?
Former Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij told Rock Paper Shotgun that AI could be used to convert the PS5 version of GTA 6 into an unofficial PC build, at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars in AI tokens, and that the threat could push Rockstar to release its own PC version sooner.
Take-Two says generative AI has “zero part” in GTA 6, which launches on consoles on 19 November with no PC date. Our explainer covers GTA 6 generative AI porting, the legal risk and the fake-download scams to avoid.
Price an AI build before Nvidia reports on 17 November
CoreWeave reports on 10 November, Nebius on 12 November and Nvidia on 17 November. All three will be judged on GPU demand, power and cost per megawatt. Our AI Build Configurator prices a build for any Canadian province or US state, with GPU class, four cooling options and payback. Site Screening Reports start at C$950.
